š„ Propane Grills
- š¢ļø Always store propane tanks outdoors, away from heat sources (including the grill)
- š Never store or transport propane tanks in your carās trunk
- š Turn the gas completely off after each use and when changing tanks
- š Inspect tanks for damage before refilling
- āļø Limit of two 20-lb tanks on the property of a one- or two-family home
- š«§ To check for leaks: spray soapy water on connections ā bubbles indicate a leak
- š§ Ensure all connections are tight before turning on the gas, especially after long periods of non-use
- š„ Always ignite with the lid open
- š“ When finished grilling: turn off the gas first, then the controls
š„ Charcoal Grills
- š« Never use indoors ā charcoal grills are for outdoor use only
- šŖµ Use no more than 2 inches of charcoal in the base
- š§ Only use approved barbecue starter fluid ā never add fluid to an open flame
- ā±ļø Allow fluid to soak in for at least one minute before lighting
- š¢ Permitted on terraces/balconies only if:
- š At least 10 feet of clearance from the building
- šæ A water source nearby (hose or minimum 4 gallons of water)
- š§“ Store starter fluid away from heat and flame
- šļø Dispose of ashes in a metal container with a tight lid, add water, and ensure ashes are fully cooled
š Electric Grills
- š« Never use lighter fluid or combustible materials
- š Use an extension cord rated for the grillās amperage (if needed)
- ā ļø Keep cords unplugged when not in use and out of walkways to prevent tripping hazards
- š Always follow the manufacturerās instructions
